1. Proposición.

 Estimados Colegas:

 Aprovecho la ocasión para dirigirme a Uds. postulando como Presidente del Foro Mundial a nuestra colega Dale Bagshaw de Australia. Muchos la conocen por haber trabajado duro para nuestra Institución durante los últimos 10 años y por haber desempeñado con mucha eficiencia diversos cargos directivos entre ellos el de Vice Presidente. Ya fue dado a conocer su extenso y prestigioso curriculum por lo cual al respecto nada cabe agregar. Por otra parte les informo que Dale representa a un conjunto de 16 o 17 países del área Asiático-Pacífico y ello habla de su enorme influencia en el campo de la Mediación. Para los que no la conocen se trata de una personalidad no solo prestigiosa sino sumamente cálida cuyas aptitudes y condiciones pretendo resaltar. Cumple con todos los requsitos exigidos para desempeñar el cargo y estoy convencido que hará una excelente gestión.

1. Proposal

 

I take this opportunity to postulate as President of the WMF to our colleague Dale Bagshaw from Australia. A lot of people know her because she has worked hard for our Institution for the last 10 years and she has performed with great efficiency different leadership positions including the role of Vice President. Her wide and prestigious CV is known by all so there is no other comment about it. Moreover I inform you that Dale represents to 16 or 17 countries of the Asia Pacific area and she has got a huge influence in the Mediation issues. If somebody don´t know her I can say that she has got a prestigious and warm personality with a lot of skills and conditions to be valued. She meets all the requirements for the role of President and I am convinced that she will make an excellent management. Gerardo Judkovsky(Argentina)

3. Motivation:

In my next term as a member of the committee I am committed to strengthening the membership base of the WMF and to promoting mediation in all countries of the world.

My vision for the next term of the Steering Committee is that we should give high priority to:

  • streamlining our administrative processes via the website (e.g. payments for memberships, developing a newsletter etc)
  • developing innovative strategies to open up lines of communication between members of the Steering Committee (SC) and between the SC and WMF members
  • developing proactive strategies to broaden the membership of the WMF and
  • reviewing and updating our Statutes.

4. CV Curriculum

I am an inaugural member of the WMF and have previously served as a President (one term) and Vice President (two terms). I am also the inaugural and current President (three terms) of the Asia Pacific Mediation Forum, formed in 2001.  I have presided over three APMF conferences - in Australia, Singapore and Fiji - and the APMF 2008 conference will be in Malaysia in June 2008. 

In Australia, I am the Director of Postgraduate Studies, Research Portfolio Leader and the Program Director for the Graduate Certificate in Mediation; Graduate Diploma/Master of Mediation and Conflict Resolution and the Doctor of Human Service Research in the School of Social Work and Social Policy at the University of South Australia (UniSA). I am also the Director of the Centre for Peace, Conflict and Mediation, Hawke Research Institute, UniSA. I am on the Editorial Board of the Association of Conflict Resolution (ACR)  journal Conflict Resolution Quarterly, have presented papers at many international mediation conferences, have published widely and have conducted hundreds of mediation training programs in Australia, England, Sweden, Germany, Malaysia, Fiji and the Phillipines. I also practice as a mediator in organisational, workplace and family disputes. I am currently co-editing a book with Professor Elisabeth Porter titled: Mediation in the Asia Pacific. Transforming Conflicts and Building Peace.
